Audition InformationProspective Students Current Students Emory students need not be Theater Studies majors to audition for Theater Emory productions. Information about student auditions for Theater Emory productions can be found in postings on the second floor of the Rich Building and in the Theater Emory conference on Learnlink (Public Conferences --> Arts at Emory --> Theater Emory). A general interest meeting is hosted by Theater at Emory (Student Theater organizations, Theater Studies, and Theater Emory) on the first day of classes every fall semester at 5PM in the Munroe Theater of the Dobbs University Center. Student Backstage Involvement If you are an Emory student interested in working with Theater Emory in a technical and/or production and/or administrative capacity please contact Scott Little, Technical Director at scott.e.little@emory.edu Audition Info – Professional Actors Theater Emory attends the Unified Auditions sponsored by the Atlanta Coalition for the Performing Arts (ACPA) every spring. These serve as general auditions for union and non-union professional actors. For more information on these auditions see the ACPA website www.atlantaperforms.biz. If you attended these auditions in spring of 2008 we already have you on file for our 2008-2009 season. Auditions for Theater Emory are held only in Atlanta; we don’t audition in other cities. In addition to print media and “hotlines” TE audition notices are generally posted online at ACPA and (for Equity notices) online in “Casting Call” at www.actorsequity.org. After the Unified Auditions Theater Emory published audition notices and held additional open auditions for professional actors in May of 2008. At this time we have completed our professional casting for Don Juan Comes Back from the War and for Peer Gynt in the 2008-2009 season. We will be holding professional auditions for Brave New Works on a date to be determined in the fall of 2008. Brave New Works rehearsals and presentations will take place from Feb. 2 – 22, 2009. This website will be updated with that audition information in the fall and audition notices will be published. For more information about Brave New Works and the Theater Emory 2008-2009 season please follow this link: www.theater.emory.edu/theateremory/season/index.html Theater Emory operates under a Small Professional Theater contract with Actors’ Equity Association. Theater Emory is also the producing branch of the Department of Theater Studies at Emory University and our productions typically feature both student and professional actors (both Equity and non-Equity). Please note that roles in the age range of 30 or under are usually awarded to students. Professionals in the over-30 age range are most likely to find employment here. It is unusual for Theater Emory to hire actors that are not based in the Atlanta or North Georgia region. No housing is available to out of area performers. Theater Emory seeks a company that reflects the cultural diversity of the community we serve. Professional actors may submit headshots and résumés at any time to Robert Schultz, Casting Coordinator.
