The Theater Studies department offeres a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Studies, Minor in Theater Studies, and a joint major in playwriting. No audition is required.
Majors in Theater Studies often choose to double-major in other fields.

Major Requirements
Core Requirements
- Introduction to the Major: Reading for Performance (201)
- Interpretation and Performance: either Introduction to Acting (121), Scene Study (221), or Speeches and Monologues (222)
- Literature, History, Aesthetics: History of Drama and Theater I (215), History of Drama and Theater II (216) and
Aesthetics and Criticism of the Theater (490)
- Administration and Design, either Principles of Design (230) or Theater Administration (241)
- Production: either Basic Stagecraft (131) or Stagecraft Laboratory (330R)
- Two semesters of Theater Majors Colloquium (396)—A one-credit, one-hour weekly course, currently held in the spring semester
Departmental Electives
Three other 200-level or higher courses (twelve credit hours) in the department (or approved for the major) are required. Of these, one course (four hours) must be in the concentration area of literature, history, and aesthetics. TS190 and 101 do not count toward major or minor.

- Two semesters of Theater Majors Colloquium (396)—A one-credit, one-hour weekly course, currently held in the spring semester
