Learn About the Playwrighting Joint Major.
Congratulations to all the playwrights and collaborators that helped to make Brave New Works 2011 a success! We expect great things from this year's group of amazing plays in development!
For nearly thirty years, Theater Emory has dedicated itself to the development of new work for the stage, based upon the belief that this work can enrich not only the scripts themselves but also those of us who choose to engage with them.
The process of making a stage-worthy play is unpredictable for everyone. Writers courageously invite artists and audiences to explore their work-in-progress, endeavoring to learn from the impulses and reactions that are evoked. Theater artists adapt themselves to meet the developing work however it comes to them and as it changes from day to day. Early audiences open themselves to whatever new world the playwright is striving to create.
We strive to create an environment, at Emory, where established and emerging writers choose to bring their growing plays for creative nurturance and support.
